2018 is the 10th anniversary of the Trafigura Foundation. We would like to express our gratitude to those people, Trafigura senior management, employees, charity committees, partners and collaborators who made possible this first decade of philanthropic engagement.
After our first 10 years, we have the maturity and capacity to increase our commitment and impact, guided by a new strategy to support programmes in the fields of fair & sustainable employment and clean & safe supply chains.
To mark this important milestone, we have created the campaign Advancing Change which showcases in 10 “postcards” some of the most meaningful partners and programmes that we are supporting in the framework of our new strategy. Each month for 10 consecutive months, we will tell the story of one of our partner organisations.

The first “postcard” of our campaign presents our partnership with the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN) and its efforts to provide support to seafarers worldwide. With working conditions often overlooked and critical situations to face at sea, seafarers are responsible for transporting 90 per cent of the world's goods.
The Trafigura Foundation’s grants will be allocated to ISWAN’s two help funds: the Seafarers Emergency Fund, which provides immediate aid to seafarers who are directly involved in unforeseen crises; and the Piracy Survivors Family Funds, helping seafarers and their families in case of piracy attacks around the Horn of Africa.
Our financial support will also help ISWAN purchase a new customer relationship management system to better track down and report seafarers’ help requests.
